Pickachu is a critically obscure fangame character (and the collective name of the game series he is in) who was accidentally created when Hippoman and ShadowMan were talking about a spelling mistake made by King Piranha Plant.

Games that include Pickachu are notable in their replayability, intentional stupidity, and irritating level design. They often include blindingly horrendous graphics, below par music, and a very original and often confusing storyline.

The more humorous parts of Pickachu are mainly thought to be the wide variety of MIDI files and the fact most of the levels are goofy, absurd, and in rare cases, impossible.

The first game was a basic side-scrolling adventure with insane levels that are almost impossible to beat unless given a walkthrough (some external ideas and levels by Cutman). The second game, ironically, has a more professional look compared to its predecessor. It's more interactive, has boss battles that require strategy, and even a tag team system (which made the game even harder and more frustrating). However, it was more unpolished and untested than the first game, with some levels and bosses being frustrating beyond belief to complete, and in some cases, not even possible to beat at all.

The Pickachu games are supposed to be a trilogy, but only the first two in the series were made. Pickachu 3 seems to be on hiatus. Pickachu Episodes, the third Pickachu game, was recently released. The story takes place between Pickachu 2 and Pickachu 3. [1]

Techokami was given permission by Shadowman to make a quick and dirty Rogue game before the end of 2006. Titled "Pickachu Wee Edickone", the game involves mini-game-styled boss fights and the option of using the Nintendo Wii Remote as a form of control (it is actually the recommended method of control, but there are keyboard commands available). It was released January 2nd, 2007.

Plot summaries[edit | edit source]

Pickachu DX[edit | edit source]

It's worth noting these were actually three separate files eventually heathenized into one.

Chapter 1[edit | edit source]

You learn that Gayr has stolen the world. After crosses two levels, Pickachu reaches Gayr and convinces him that violence is not the answer.

Chapter 2[edit | edit source]

Jiglypuffe is "stolen" aka kidnapped from the gang by Gayr; he mocks them as he has made distance between them and him by use of pits containing sharp jellybeans. The brothers find who they think to be Jiglypuffe but it is in fact a cyborg replica. After traveling through orangutan infested Treehouse Land they locate another fake Jiglypuffe who turns out to be a Ditto who immediately explodes. After a devastatingly epic battle with Gayr, Jiglypuffe is rescued.

Chapter 3[edit | edit source]

Mr. Burns and Smithers steal Jiglypuffe (she obviously is well-liked); the group gives chase and after nearly capturing Smithers he escapes to a nearby camera factory. After Pickachu himself navigates through the dangerous Pokeball defense system the brothers manage to push past the factory and enter combat with the Mr. Burns's death machine; shaped like a giant quesadilla with grotesque facial features. Just as the brothers think they have accomplished victory the death machine uses its well named death beam causing instant death to the group. They go to hell and after navigating through the endless maze of the evil place must fight Steven Colbert's twin, Burns, and Smithers in a battle reminiscent of Obi-Wan versus Dark Vader in Episode Four. After leaving hell they win or something along those lines.

Pickachu 2[edit | edit source]

In Pickachu 2, aka Pickachu Studium, the three brothers travel outside to collect items and stop Gayr from attacking. After a few levels, Puckuchu, their father, falls into hell all of a sudden. Pickachu and company give chase. They learn that hell has been taken over by the taco demons. Once they arrive, Puckuchu is freed, Pichaku goes to heaven, and Pickachu is banished to the Lost Limbo. Pichaku goes to a world made out of kittens, but bumps into an ax murderer and heaven turns into hell. There he must combat the seven deadly sins: Talespin, Frankfurter, Burgundy, Diamonds, Grue, Dumpling, and Dschingis Khan. Meanwhile, Pickachu, in the Lost Limbo, must complete 14 different minigames. Upon the final chapter of the game, the Pickachu Brothers get to the gates of hell but they are locked. Fearing defeat, the Brothers get a visit from their old enemy, Steven Colbert. He was tortured by the devil, The Rock. Now he is free, and he showed the Brothers the way to the devil's lair. After a battle with The Rock, the game is over.

"Fan" projects[edit | edit source]

Pickachu Wee Edickone[edit | edit source]

A gaiden-type game, Puckachu is now Puckachii, and the brothers go out to devour rain meters, battle orangutans, and hang Sylvester the Cat, who turns out to really be Pichaku. The game has a secret ending that can be unlocked by locating and collecting all 7 Shigeru Medals.

Other Pichaku games[edit | edit source]

fun game, in it; pickachu[edit | edit source]

fun game, in it; pickachu is a game made solely by Hippoman, it was released at six minutes past three GMT on November the 22nd 2008. It was rapidly developed during Hippoman's excessive free time at university. A lot of the levels were created while he was intoxicated and one was completely made by a housemate who had very little knowledge of computer games. A lot of the jokes within the game are slightly more British (Hippoman thoroughly enjoyed the comedy in SHPDMBGWL4) and the game is laden with secrets which are too obscure to find. Hippoman has played through the entire game in one sitting a single time.

Pickachu and the Credit Crunc[edit | edit source]

Pickachu and the Credit Crunc is a quick fangame made by Shadowman in March 2009. In this game, Pickachu is working in the Hyundai factory, where he pumps gas into tires, and he has to pick up many stacks of tires as he walks a monotonous 100 miles to reach the end of the factory, which takes around eight minutes to reach the end of. Upon doing so, he collects a large amount of tires, then the factory overloads and Pickachu has to escape. Upon returning to his house, he learns from Puckuchu that the destruction of the Hyundai factory has caused a worldwide economic collapse.

Character Biographies[edit | edit source]

Pickachu Plague[edit | edit source]

Pickachu - The Tire Gas Pumping Guy

Pickachu Plague is the main character of the series. He works at the local Hyundai Factory as the Tire Gas Pumping Guy. He lives at home with his brothers, Puckachu and Pichaku. He is the most well-rounded of the three characters. He has laser crotch. He says "hell yeah" a lot. In Pickachu 2, he collects tires.

In Pickachu 2, Pickachu is banished to the Lost Limbo where he must play a series of games before gaining access to the inner sanctum of the devil.

In Pickachu Episodes, Pickachu goes to the Andes Mountains to find Jimmy Hoffa after the request of his cousin, Pickapicka.

Puckachu Plague[edit | edit source]

Puckachu

Puckachu Plague is Pickachu's brother and is probably unemployed. He moves slowly, but jumps high. He has laser navel. In Pickachu 2, he collects raccoons.

In Pickachu 2, Puckachu is trapped in hell. He must do battle with Dr. Evil.

Pichaku Plague[edit | edit source]

Pichaku

Pichaku is also Pickachu's brother. He is the fastest, but has a low jump. Apparently, no one likes him (although his brothers save him regardless). He has laser cheeks. In Pickachu 2, he collects boobs for his alleged collection.

In Pickachu 2, Pichaku goes to heaven, but comes across an evil ax murderer that causes heaven to turn into hell. There, he must battle the seven deadly sins.

Puckuchu Plague[edit | edit source]

Puckuchu

Puckuchu Plague is the father of the Pickachu brothers. In Pickachu 2, the same game he is introduced in, a poodle destroys the Pickachu family's house, and Puckuchu dies and goes to hell. After the brothers defeat the taco demons, he is released from hell. He appears again in Pickachu Episodes, telling the Brothers not to find Jimmy Hoffa in the Andes Mountains.

Pickapicka[edit | edit source]

Pickapicka

Pickapicka is Pickachu's cousin. He appears very briefly in Pickachu Episodes and, for unknown reasons, asks Pickachu to find Jimmy Hoffa in the Andes Mountains. He appears to have laser beard.

Steven Colbert[edit | edit source]

Steven Colbert

Steven Colbert is a slave to the devil, The Rock. He originally is in control of hell in Pickachu DX and punishes the brothers for their sins against humanity (hell is even modelled with a Colbert Report theme). At the end of the game, he becomes a pacifist, and Pickachu fights his twin brother. Near the very end of Pickachu 2, Steven Colbert re-appears and opens the gates to the devil.

Dr. Evil[edit | edit source]

Have you the courage to challenge Dr. Evil to a battle?

A being that resides in hell. After being defeated by Puckachu, he helps the brothers in the final fight against The Rock.

The Rock[edit | edit source]

The Rock

The Rock is the devil and rules over hell. He is actually a giant pulsating taco that can be easily killed simply by being touched.

Quesadilla Man[edit | edit source]

In a secret ending to Pickachu DX, Quesadilla Man is revealed to be one of the main villains. Early on in the game, it successfully kills the brothers.

Jimmy Hoffa[edit | edit source]

Jimmy Hoffa appears in Pickachu Episodes. His affiliation is unknown.

Jon Stewart[edit | edit source]

A villain appearing near the end of the regular game in Pickachu Wee, he first is shown as an edit of a Megatron sprite. After retreating to a cave, he turns into a portrait of the famous American satirist. He is then destroyed, and revealed to be a weapon created by the Eggman and controlled by evil space Reagan from the distant future.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • There was originally going to be a long battle with Dschingis Khan, in Pickachu 2, but was scrapped for a simple item collection stage that doesn't involve any of the Pickachu brothers or Dschingis Khan. It still played the full MIDI music of their song Moskau.
  • Pickachu 2 was never fully tested. As a result, at least two of the levels in the game are literally impossible to complete. The Talespin level forgot to have a platform to the exit, and the Diamonds level forgot to have an exit altogether. Such levels encourage use of the passwords to the levels immediately afterward; however, no passwords are stated in the game.
  • There is a painfully hard but actually beatable boss battle with Dr. Evil in Pickachu 2. Nobody has ever been confirmed to beat him. (Hippoman had a good try a while ago)
  • Despite the prominence of Pickachu's "laser crotch", it has never been used in any of his games.
  • In "fun game; in it; pickachu", the first level is supposedly unbeatable. In reality it is. When you encounter the first big spring, bounce to the right; it'll move you onto the 2 unreachable springs that lead you forward onto the level.

Recurring themes[edit | edit source]

Fake Platforms[edit | edit source]

From the very first level and hence throughout; the Pickachu games have involved platforms with no collision - a "fake" platform. This idea came from Hippoman thinking the original level was too boring and didn't fit the parameters of the physical joke he was making. So he removed several of the repeating platforms and replaced them with fake platforms. This gave Pickachu its first sense of impossibility, as the only way one could navigate the level was by guesswork or tedious repetition. The same idea was used on the second "level"; this made people think they had to figure out the new pattern of fake platforms, when in fact it was a copy and paste of the first level.

Horrible Midis/Famous Song Midis[edit | edit source]

Originally simple TGF midis were used; obviously the worst being picked. Later on Cutman sent Hippoman a level to be added to the game - Hippoman reveled in its comic genius - the thing that added to the whole experience was the midi playing in the background. It was instantly recognised as an ABBA classic and so from this point the midis in Pickachu got progressively worse to the point where some were purposely made for the game to be intentionally bad.

Mexican food as villians[edit | edit source]

In the first Pickachu, the Quesadilla was the main villain, who was later revealed to be Quesadilla Man. By coincidence, the main villain of Pickachu 2 is also a Mexican dish, a taco.
