English[edit | edit source]

Noun[edit | edit source]

Intrinsic extrinsivity (plural Intrinsic extrinsivities)

  1. The internal essentiality of a superficial characteristic.
  2. In philosophical circles an indication of a red herring that is actually blue.
  3. In software and product design a feature that will be promoted as can't live without which will, in fact, be rendered useless or unnecessary in the next generation. This has very little to do with the actual meaning of the term, but product designers aren't exactly scholars, are they?
