Thought I'd try a proper encyclopedia entry for a change but American history is very confusing, perhaps because so little of it happened in the past Sog1970 20:46, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
- I am a little out of practice with this Uncyclopedia business, but I'll give it a go.
| Humour: | 9 | In short, this article is quite wonderful, making this review rather challenging. Nothing feels out of place or difficult to understand. I enjoyed most of the jokes, even the non sequitors concerning such subjects as Scooby Doo and Coldplay. My favourite line is the one about anti-cyclones -- very clever. Infectious diseases are also goodly comical. |
| Concept: | 9 | Very strong concept: the squeaky-clean story of the Pilgrims retold as a comical tale of masturbating alcoholic cannibals. My biggest worry is the name of the article. The Pilgrim Fathers is quite the mouthful, when the most common understanding of the word Pilgrim involves the very same subject matter. There is a shitty little half-baked article on Pilgrims already; I really feel that this is the only one that deserves to exist. Perhaps you could ask an admin to move your page over the existing one as a rewrite? No reason why The Pilgrim Fathers can't be retained as the title, but at least Pilgrim and Pilgrims should redirect here. |
| Prose and formatting: | 8.5 | Prose is very strong, apart from a few awkward sentences in the opening section, but this is not a difficult fix. Formatting is a little patchy in places. I prefer internal consistency in how direct quotes are formatted, and you switch between bold and italicised quotes here. Really, unless emphasis is necessary, the only bold section of an article should be the first instance that the title is incorporated into the opening section. Newspaper and ship names should be italicised also. |
| Images: | 8 | Quite good, I particularly enjoyed the photograph/caption combo of Plymouth Rock and the original vessel. I tend to give higher image scores only if some of the images in the article are original, but don't let that dissuade you as those contained here are more than adequate. The bold sections of the first caption are a minor annoyance only, as the caption is hilarious. |
