I give this ten gold stars. User:Mrthejazz/sig 03:39, January 29, 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. Kip the Dip did the Bush/Obama morph, regarding a totally different conversation a week before the State of the Union. As Obama has just lost one house of Congress to the opposition, and Presidents in that situation must throw them a bone (remember Clinton's "The era of big government is over!"), I figured that whatever Obama said would be easy to turn into pure satire, along the lines of a black man gradually turning white--as Democrats morph into Republicans and vice versa to honor Rep. Giffords.
- There is humor here, in that the love-fest was total eyewash; whatever your rep says he believes in, he must stay on a friendly basis even with people who believe the exact opposite, in case he can get their vote from time to time.
- In case the reader doesn't get the joke that Rep. Frank "kept his hands to himself" when paired with a woman, Rep. Frank is famously gay.
- There is also humor in the dud of a speech that Obama actually gave: Sputnik-era "vision" and a willingness to make (token) spending cuts, but also the obligatory new programs--like "high-speed rail" in places where no one lives nearby and everyone has a car--because all Presidents want to take credit for spurring Congress to action on something. These contradictions are set out mostly by the Republican partisan I use as the Source. That a politician gives a speech that contains contradictions is, well, not news. Spıke ¬ 13:43 30-Jan-11
