HOLLYWOOD, California: American film, television, and hip hop star Will Smith told reporters that he has officially gone through with his intentions to leave Hollywood and the public eye for good after, he claims, he was the victim of stereotyping and racism within the acting community.
Will says that throughout his entire career as a film and television star, that he has always been cast for roles playing an African-American.
"I don't see why I always have to play a black person on TV," argued Will during a recent interview. Director Barry Sonnenfeld (director of such films as Men in Black, Wild Wild West, and Men in Black II) responded to Will's allegations, stating, "It just seemed to come natural to Will. He played a great black person!"
Jada Pinkett Smith, Will's wife, tells of a time when Will's co-star in the film Ali, Jon Voight, suggested to Will that they grab some nearby KFC for lunch. Will took offense at the suggestion, telling Jon Voight that just because he is a person of color that it doesn't necessarily mean he enjoys chicken. Despite his own reaction to the comment, Will purchased some wings from KFC that afternoon.
