You close your eyes, kneel down and pray to the fog, pleading that it will not mutate, consume or corrupt you.

Now the fog does not consider itself to be a god of any sort, although it does see itself as a far superior being to any ordinary creature (such as you.) And besides, it can't speak English anyway.
