Talk:Taiwan
A Better Taiwan Entry[edit source]
you guys need to focus on the many hilarities of this wonderful country!! -They can't drive. There are 25 Million people in Taiwan & over 50 million scooters PER HOUSEHOLD. The actual number of scooters in Taiwan can't be calculated as they actually grow on trees here. -It smells awful. No one flushes toilet paper because that stuff is saved for the betel nuts. -They've discovered the heroin of chicken called Yen Su Che which gets white guys hooked on it for life & they will immediately gain a hundred lbs apon being hooked. Since you cannot get Yen Su Che anywhere else in the world foreigners keep coming back.
Ok all this things about Taiwan being a galactic empire is just stupid and not funny. This entry needs a major make-over. I started on some. you may think some changes I added are not so funny but, hey, it's better than the Borg BS. I recommend we focus on a few point:
1. The stereotypical view that all electronic devices are made in Taiwan (as introduced in many movies and novels)
2. The politics of Taiwan (All that China claims sovereignty over Taiwan and stuff)
3. Taiwanese Food and other culture (I really like the references kareoke and truck driver. oh and references to betel nuts, the girls that sell them & Yen Su Che would be nice)
what do you think? --Puyuma 31 July 2007
As this article stands, it leaves absolutely no scope for either locals or "waiguoren" like me who actually live and work in the real Taiwan to add anything about the absurdities of daily life here, of which there are many. Can we get rid of this stupid unfunny "Star Trek" stuff and get to work on an article that lampoons life in Taiwan properly?Spews1973 12:43, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Unless anyone raises any objections, either here or on my talk page, before August 29 2009, I will erase the entire article (apart from the part about politics, that is based on the real Taiwan) and start it again. My intention is to provide a starting point for those of us who really know Taiwan to expand upon.Spews1973 11:33, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Well, I've done it. Please feel free to change it in any way you see fit to make it better. I think all the Star Trek crap started because of the flag and coat of arms, so they had to go. I tried to add the ones from the Traditional Chinese page but it didn't work. I hope that somebody can add those soon. To the person who made out Taiwan was something out of Star Trek, don't do it again. You're not making any friends here.Spews1973 05:33, September 6, 2009 (UTC)
I hope that this wasn't TOO TOO LATE for improvements or inspiration
No,it's never too late. I'm very happy to see that what I wrote has been added to in the past month. I'm happy that everything that's been added is relevant to Taiwan and has absolutely nothing to do with bloody Star Trek! People will still be coming to this article for the first time and those who know about Taiwan will be able to add to it, unaware that there was ever a time that it was full of mad ramblings about Klingons and Betazoids.Spews1973 05:11, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps, now to prevent this article getting filled up with stuff about Arab terrorists, it now needs a different map.Spews1973 17:47, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
I'm pretty certain this will be the last thing I'll ever write on Uncyclopedia. It seems I'm not allowed to delete everything that I wrote before, even though it's irrelevant now that the awful "Star Trek" version of the article has been restored. I tried to prompt the creation of one quality "it's funny because it's true" article here but it seems that's not the kind of humour that prevails on this site. Instead it gets dominated by the bullies who shout the loudest and think that just because something's rude or incongruous it's funny. I've got better things to do than get involved in an editing-war. I've decided that what's on Uncyclopedia just isn't my sense of humour and I'm not going to have anything to do with it anymore.Spews1973 04:26, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
remove excessive startrek references[edit source]
I agree that uncyclopedia entries should reflect reality. Much of the startreck references does not do this and most are not really funny anyway. I recommend we remove most of the startrek reference and replace them with something else. I will start some work.
This article about Taiwan distorts many facts such as military power, Taiwanese culture, and the highest building 101 in the world. This article about Taiwan has strong personal bias against Taiwan. I recommend removing this article. -– Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.209.185.169 (talk • contribs) 08:15, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- You do realize this is a parody site, right? --Splaka 08:15, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
No, I have to agree. Most sites should be funny because they "hold a mirror to life". This article is simply trying to cast Taiwan in the worst satirical way possible (Think about some of the propoganda cartoons against the Japanese)
Now it is much improved.
CUT IT OUT[edit source]
Whomever is adding all those dumb random Trek references: QUIT IT. It's not fucking funny. We Taiwanese have been working so damn hard to create a satirical article that rivals North Korea, but you had to fuck it all up. I want to revert, but I'm afraid I'd violate some rules. Seriously: STOP. --OneTopJob6 23:44, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Demoncratic?[edit source]
What is Demoncratic?--68.98.154.196 22:16, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Demon+democratic
Take a look at the original entry by the "Taiwanese" (if you can understand traditional chinese)[edit source]
The Treky stuff here isn't coherent with the taiwanese version of "Taiwan". I think that it is better to translate the taiwanese text (which reflects the actual absurdity of Taiwan's political situation), than to fool around inventing stupid stuff. Plus, it's not funny at all. Please, be funny but not stupid. 219.71.73.43 12:18, 2 January 2008 (UTC) Taiwan guy
