Clarification[edit source]
A bit of snooping brought me here from your comments on Spang's user page, but I'm confused regarding your article.
Is this a parody article, or a joke article or ...? I assume the intent is humo(u)r but having never heard of the original subject it seems to have escaped me. Please enlighten me ^_^ (and please don't take offense, you've clearly put a lot of work into it and I'd like to be in on the joke! And I even went and wikied it as well to try and educate myself!) -- 07:08, 23 April 2007
- The humor of the article is that someone is presenting the subject in a serious manner, but that the author is not quite admitting that he got turned into one and that he is deeply ambivalent about being one for his foreseeable now indefinite life span. If I have failed at that and anyone has a suggestion how to make it funnier, let me know. I am rather a fan of dry, subtle and deadpan humor, myself.

- If I may offer one suggestion to start, you might want to cull the amount of links, both red and otherwise in the article to just ones that support the humour of it. Adminses hates redlinks precious. Or so I'm told. I've always been a fan of link text that says one thing while the actual link says the opposite. ie "Many people say Warlocks are overpowered, but this is generally because they are Mages" (sorry, terrible example but the only one i could think off) 04:08, 25 April 2007
- Awww I see you've started removing a lot of the excess links ^_^ One thing that creates issues for me with the article is the UU comments being dropped in there. I'm not sure what it has to do with Kitsune and kind of shows the author's bias. IMO the article should be distint from your beliefs. Try and separate the first person voice of the article from yourself :D It's kind of getting in the way of the humour. Just another suggestion, no offense intended, feel free to ignore me! I know what its like to slave away over one long project article ^_^ Click here for my baby! 03:30, 26 April 2007
What do you think now? Verp 19:56, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
I've been doing a lot of research on Kitsune for a manga project, and I found this entry absolutely hilarious! It is full of really good "in-jokes" for people who are familiar with kitsune legends. I got a lot of laughs out of it! I especially thought it was funny that the author independently came up with "my" idea of the nogitsune regarding the myobi as snooty, lazy rice-cake eaters. :)
Thank you for the compliment! I have been rather obsessive about editing it. I thought it would be funny if I came up with a relatively logically consistent explanation of them based on the mythology around them and contemporary explanations about how they are able to do what they do. I wrote the article from the point of view of a Unitarian Universalist loosely based on me who’s interest in them got the better of them and ended up one. That could be the basis of a particularly entertaining novel, too.
Possession[edit source]
Alright, there HAS to be something exploitable about it. But, what? Afterall, according to folklore, they can possess someone through the fingernails or the breasts. Now, this can be exploited in many ways. But, I can't put my finger on it. Anyone else gonna take a crack at it? - User:Zeonora
Let's brainstorm a bit. Are they more prone to go in through ornate false fingernails as a path of reduced resistance, or are they too tastefully fashion conscious? I recall that the Roman Catholics will give a person suspected of being in need of an exorcism a good physical as the possessed are in perfect health (do demons only pick on the healthy or do they tidy up those they possess?) Do kitsune specialize in which part of the body they go in? Which side? If they like to get under the nails, which side and which finger? Toenails? What is the reaction to ugly fungus infected nails? They could get into someone from a distance through nail clippings? Do they get stuck if the person has nipple piercings, like an animal with its head stuck in an opening too small for it? (I get a mental image of a minute animal trap hanging from a nipple and a kitsune chewing off its ectoplasmic foot to get out of it.) Also, what sort of things get left behind in the soul or mind when they leave? I get a mental image of a kitsune checking out the wardrobe of a woman they possessed and giving a vulpine scream of terror when they find a closet full of fox furs or run into her love of fox furs while rummaging around in her memories. What might the kitsune end up with when they leave? It might be funny if latent tendencies of the kitsune come out if they possess someone blatant, or if the human ends up able to handle higher math if the kitsune did such things while in them. Do nipples work as a way to get into a human male? Are there funny reasons not to go in through the clitoris, say? Do they leave the way they got in? Do they get stuck in a human if they do something careless or destructive in there (don't eat the soul, you'll get stuck!)? What if the person likes having a fox running around in their mind and is strong enough to stay in control and keep them from leaving (You have a purdy soul!)? Are there good reasons for myobu to possess people (that might be a useful technique for psychological or spiritual counseling or teaching or influencing human events)? Are there ways of finding kitsune to possess the interested or for kitsune to find humans who want to be possessed? Are there secrets to getting them out of you, like thinking of things that offend their delicate sensibilities?

Thanks, I've been working on it. Hopefully, it will inspire others to work on it as well. XD
