Phonk is misspelled very loud noise with more loud noise that makes what some people call “music”. Phonk is a subgenre of hip hop and trap music just with the most dark lyrics one can think of and loud noise.

Phonk originated in 2010’s Memphis and gained popularity in crappy brainrotting edits on TikTok and YouTube. The word was probably used when artists could not speel or had bad grammear and called it “phonk”. Phonk is characterized by having a man screaming the most dark satanic lyrics at the top of his lungs, loud electronic noise, mangos and cowbells.

Phonk is directly inspired by a broken down GE microwave that makes loud distorted noise. These are often combined with people screaming with a voice changer to sound like a scientifically accurate T-Rex for some reason. Phonk songs usually start with “Montagem” or “Automotivio” for inexplainable reasons. Phonk albums also have a slowed + reverb version. For some reason people really seem to like the slowed versions of the song. Sometimes phonk songs get real music and add cow bells and someone screaming curses on the top of their lungs. Sometimes phonk songs will start with Z-(insert phonk name here) or X-(insert phonk name here). Most people who enjoy phonk are unemployed bums who spend their day gooning to Hatsune miku and telling mom that showers arent important in life and that side hustles like dropshipping is the only way to escape the matrix - by the matrix they mean having a job and having good hygiene. There is another type of phonk called Brazilian phonk in which the only comprehensible sound is horses getting thrown into a particle accelerator or a 1923 radio transmission by an 89 year old scottish man called Barthomelew Richard Jefferson XVI as a shitty excuse for 808s.
