Happiness economics is the name given to a revolutionary new style of economic progress, pioneered by the country of Bhutan in South Asia. The idea centres around the principle that one can better rule the state if one knows how the proles citizens are feeling, i.e the opposite of what goes on in many modern capitalist societies. What they say is that if we keep the citizens happy, then they'll make us happy in exchange. What they DON'T say is that that's still working with their interest at heart, not the citizens'.

History[edit | edit source]

The fourth King (or 'Dragon King' to sound cool) Jigme Singye Wangchuck (1955-) coined the term gross national happiness in 1972 to describe that, instead of tracking gross domestic product, Bhutan should track domestic happiness. Basically, how happy people are feeling is more important that how much they earn; emotion is more important than money.

On religion[edit | edit source]

Happiness economics clings dearly on for life to Buddhist principles, but can safely be applied to ANY religion, except the Church of the SubGenius of course.
