It's back, and it's badder than ever. It's what you've all been waiting for: the return of the Poo Lit Surprise writing competition, a chance to put your formidable writing skills to use for the Good of Mankind, and also some cash. Thanks to generous endowments from evil megalomanics our loving benefactors Wikia, Uncyclopedia has been able to establish the Uncyclopedia Writing Fundation to fund the promising careers of young scribblers.

What is the Poo Lit Surprise?

The original competition name and logo were rejected for being too sophisticated and were replaced with flaming feces.

This is the official writing contest for Uncyclopedia. Well, unless you count VFH... but this is different because here you can win money and brothel tokens for your work.

The directions for entering are very simple. There are four categories: Best Article, Best Rewrite, Best Illustrated Article and Best Article by a N00b. More specific directions for each category can be found under the corresponding heading further down the page.

You may submit up to and not exceeding one (1) article in each category. To submit your article, follow these numbered steps:

1. Write your article. Please put it in your userspace so that nobody else edits it whilst you work on it. (E.g. if your username is user:Oscar, and your article is on freight trains, put your article at user:Oscar/Freight train. After the conclusion of the contest, worthy entries will be moved to the main article namespace.)
2. Once you're finished with your article, submit it on this page under the appropriate category heading.
3. Repeat, if desired, for the remaining categories.
4. Wait.
5. Once the contest deadline is concluded, a panel of judges will vote on the articles and a winner will be declared in each category.
6. ???
7. Profit.

The writing phase of the contest will run for two weeks, from 1 August to 14 August. You may submit your entries at any time during this period. The judging phase will be another week, ending on 21 August. On that date the winners will be announced on this page, so make sure you check back to claim your winnings.

What are the prizes?

I'm glad you asked. In addition to a fancy userpage template, the title of Official Poet Lowrate for the Order of Uncyclopedia, fame, and glory, the winner of each category will receive a $25. So without further ado, here are the categories...

Contest Categories

Best Article

Topic guidelines: your article must be on a subject that either does not have an article on Uncyclopedia yet, or has a really mediocre one that shouldn't be there in the first place.

Content guidelines: there are no content guidelines, except: you must Be Funny. For examples of Being Funny, see Best Of, Category:Quasi-Featured, and VFH.

Best Rewrite

Topic guidelines: your article must be derived from and improve existing content on Uncyclopedia. A good way to do this is to look for a subject that has loads of humor potential (by using the search function) and evaluating how funny the page is compared to how funny you think it can be. Another method is to look for topics in Category:Worthless Articles.

Content guidelines: submissions will be judged on how well they improve the content being rewritten so the content of your submission is based on the changes you make, not the final product. As with the other categories, you must Be Funny.

Additional Submission Guidelines: you must note the source articles that you have rewritten/derived from.

Best Illustrated Article

Topic guidelines: your article must meet the same conditions set for the "Best Article" or "Best Rewrite" category. It must also include a minimum of 2 original^* and relevant images.

^* images that you created for the purpose of the article.

Content guidelines: submissions will primarily be judged on the quality of the images and the value they add to the article. Though the style of writing is not the main focus, it must not be neglected. The use of an image as an adjunct (definition) to the article rather than an addition will improve your chances of winning.
If you are doing a rewrite and basing it on the already existing text, it is not enough to simply add images and a few uninspired lines. You must have added most of the value.

Additional Submission Guidelines: if your article is a rewrite, add a link to the original one.

Best Article by a N00b

Topic guidelines: as with the Best Article category, your article must be on a subject that either does not have an article on Uncyclopedia yet, or has a really mediocre one that shouldn't be there in the first place.

Content guidelines: there are no content guidelines, except: you must Be Funny. For examples of Being Funny, see Best Of, Category:Quasi-Featured, and VFH.

Additional Submission Guidelines: articles may only be submitted to this category by N00bs, defined as individuals who have only begun submitting articles within the three months prior to the start of the competition.
