Thoughts:
Basically, this throws up more questions: Who first discovered the uncanny similarity? How do kids feel knowing they have been sucking/chewing on replica testicles? Is the change of shape a deliberate ploy to combat the lack of sales this may have caused? Or was there another reason?
Perhaps the change of shape mirrors changes other doctors have been noting in the shape of the average testicle, and the publishers of the report are actually behind the times? Or maybe the change is intended to help men check themselves properly - "if your balls are this shape, you're definitely in trouble!"
If you just want to gently send up the original story somewhat, then what you've done is fone. If you really want to stamp your mark on this story, then at least think about running with the ball. So to speak.
