You fire at the second Deputy, and amazingly manage to hit him from your position. The bullet travels through the front desk, through his uniform, and into his chest. You bastard cop-killer. You don't get bail for killing TWO policemen. You get fed to Grues for that. The Deputy collapses to the floor, throwing down his shotgun, which goes flying out the window.

Meanwhile, a couple more police cars have pulled up in the parking lot. A tall, stolid man with hastily combed hair and a layer of stubble on his chin gets out. He's wearing an open-necked tan police uniform, and a green jacket with a metal sheriff's badge. In one hand he clutches a hunting rifle, in the other a bullhorn. "This is Sheriff Leffler Wells, Pignerol Sheriff's Department!" He shouts into the bullhorn. "We know you're in there, cop killer. You have five seconds to come out with your hands on your head before we shoot the place down around you."
Outside the window, you can already see men in matching police uniforms, green jackets, and ranger hats approaching the building from all sides, guns drawn. The Sheriff's deputies. Let's see you get out of this one, tough guy.
