> Go to the Chief of Police's office

Walking back downstairs and stepping out the hotel through the main door - the Deputy somehow got the chains off it - you walk to the road and flag down a taxi. The driver immediately sticks a gun in your face and has you hand over the bulging wallet you stole from the family you rescued, but it's okay, because he then agrees to take you down to the police station anyway.

Eventually reaching the station, you step inside and introduce yourself as the Grueslayer; you're promptly directed to the Chief of Police's office.

Stepping inside the office, you come face to face with the Deputy, who's looking at you sideways, and, seated at a desk, the Chief of Police, a gruff-looking man with the most stereotypical mustache ever.

"Grueslayer," he says in an official-sounding way as you take a seat opposite him, "in recognition of your achievements in eliminating corrupt lawman Terrence Ronalds and illegal cultist Patrick Bryce, the city has made the decision to reward you with the sum total of $100,000."

> "Kick ASS!"

The Chief of Police, quite rightfully, gives you a very sideways glance, but continues "And now, we have an official assignment for you."

> "Huh? You can official my ass with assignments, dude! I'm off to Amsterdam to smoke a field-full of weed!"

Both the Deputy and the Chief of Police look severely strained by your idiocy, but they continue nonetheless, the Deputy taking out a set of papers and throwing them onto the desk. "We ran background checks on Ronalds and Bryce." she says.

The Chief picks up a paper. "Ronalds has been a participant in law corruption since the age of six, when he bribed a pre-school hall monitor with a cookie to let him beat up a smaller boy and take his lunch money." he says. "Ronalds came here five years ago, fleeing from the New York Police Department after petitioning to, quote, 'make bribery, perjury, and other un-understood ideas legal'. We're not sure how he fell in with the mysterious figure known only as 'U-Gene', but we do know that, for several years, apart from his frequent visits to the land of Flame Wars, which seem to have had little connection with U-Gene, he had frequent contact with a man named Kevin Gilligan living in Las Vegas, and would make great effort to keep these contacts secret."

> "Look, I thought I made it clear that I don't give a flying, flinging..."

The Chief, ignoring you, picks up the other piece of paper. "Bryce, originally a citizen of Manchester, England, formed an interest in Bensonism in his teens." he continues. "A really angsty teenhood, you understand. Likewise, we are unsure how the figure of his worship, Benson, became involved with this U-Gene, but we are aware of two other things: that Bryce had frequent contact with a man named Jean-Jacques le Fraux-Fraux, a janitor at the Louvre in Paris, with whom he talked about both Benson and U-Gene, and that he would make several highly private phone calls to a man known only as 'McBiggun' from the small Scottish village of Lakecastle, to whom he was heard to mention U-Gene at least once."

The Chief puts down the papers and looks at you. "We believe that these three people are the best ones to question in our efforts to locate this U-Gene." he says. "We need you to do so."

> "Gad, what a lotta words. Look, shut up now, I'm taking my money and I'm..."

The Chief continues to ignore you as he pulls something out of his pocket and hands it to you. "Here's three first-class plane tickets, one each to Scotland, Las Vegas and Paris." he says. "And here's $50,000 for expenses. You need to leave immediately; all the planes leave from the local airport at 6 o'clock this evening. It's your choice where you go; all three sources ought to be helpful."

> "...well, I'd be more upset, but I can't say no to free first-class tickets, an expense account and other obvious symptoms of poor spending by the government. Let's be off, then."

The Chief rises from his chair and indicates two police officers who have just entered the room. "These officers will drive you to the airport." he says. "You're on your own from there. Good luck."
