For Equipment[edit | edit source]

The potato sack is the most commonly used material for these races, but sometimes people can stray away from using them. At events such as parties, people have stopped using potato sacks altogether for alternates such as pillow sacks and mailbags. This usage of other materials is considered a disgrace to potat sack racing, for all honorable races use potato sacks as the racing material. In any professional sport, this reults in immediate disqualification.

Professional level[edit | edit source]

The most respected and honored players of potato sack racing are found at the professional level. Fans praise their favorite racers at the professional level. If someone wishes to compete at the Olympic level of Potat Sack Racing, they must first go through the professional level. Every Olympic Racer has raced professionally at some point or another.

In the Potato Sack Racing League, or PSRL too many, there are two leagues that consist of 15 teams each. In these teams there are six racers, with one as back up racers. Games are played by having five races between the two teams. Each race is called a "round". In each round there is a new racer for each team. The racers representing each team both race, and whoever wins takes the round for their team. Which ever team wins three out of five rounds is delcared the winner, and the game has ended. Each team plays a total of eighty games against opposing teams in the official racing season. At the end of the season, there is a playoff tournament for the teans with the best records. One will go on to win the Potato Derby, the champoinship and highest prize in all of potato sack racing.

The PSRL has taken potato sack racing to a whole other level by setting a series of strict rules, regulations, and standards. Nothing bsides a potato sack can be used to race with, and if a competitor is caught using something besides a potato sack, they are automatically disqualified, which results in an immediate loss of the round for a team. However, to try and dodge these rules, many tricky racers have placed the UltraHopper gel inserts to their potato sacks to allow them to jump higher and farther. If anyone is caught with these inserts, the result is total loss of the game for the team, as well as a ten game suspension for the guilty racer.

If we're going individual racing:

Potato sack races are scored by the first peron to cross the finish line. SOmetimes courses may be straight, but other times they may consist of twists, turns, and obstacls. The individual racers raceagainst eachother, two at a time, and the to beat the other one to the finish line.

Most races are held in tournament styles, cnsisting of a bracket formation elimnation style. If one racer beats out another, he moves on to the next round. Eventually, the racer could move on the the final, where they could compete for anything from a slot in the next major tournament to a trophy and award. The most prized and most difficult tournament to enter is the Potato Derby. In this bracket, 32 of thousands of potato sack racers in the world compete for the ultimate prize: the title of World Champion. Only the most talented and skilled racers can make it to this tournament. Mere entry can assure instant fame and a salary double. For many racers, just making it to the tournament itself is a life fulfillment regardless of first round exit or not.
