“I smash two GBAs together, then record the sound they make and play it over and over for 20 minutes! This way, I can make up to 70 tracks a day!”

~ Merzbow on his career

Merzbow (also identifies as Mrrrrrrz-bow and FurrzBlow) is a 53-year old man who hasn't grown up yet. Suffering from deafness, he firmly believes that he produces quality pieces of electronic happy hardcore trance, and no-one's had the heart to correct him yet. According to his artist bio on Spotify, which I cite as a super-reliable source, he claims to be inspired by ritualistic fetishism and bondage, which is, of course, an absolute load of shit.

His first album, 1930, was not actually made in 1930, although some people would have you believe that. It features 20-minute compositions, in which you can clearly understand his inspiration with the '80s rock scene and Japanese fetishism through the harmonic sound of two GBAs smashed together in rhythmic harmony (harmony is the key word here. Don't go thinking you can make noise music by mindlessly smashing GBAs together. You can, but don't go thinking that)

Merzbox[edit | edit source]

The Merzbox is a crap-tacular 50 CDs of Merzbow as well as a T-shirt, posters, stickers, medallions and CD-ROMs, all wrapped up in a leather fetishism box. Designed for the hardcore mentalist, the Merzbox can be left out in the open during dinner parties to scare away your friends, or for the true extremist, played on full blast during a family gathering. With this method, you'll be as sad and lonely as the man himself in only a few hours!

Wikipedia says some obscure radio station played the entirety of the Merzbox on the air for 2 weeks straight - so you crazy kids can enjoy a full non-stop two-weeks of Merzbow and the inevitable deafness that follows!
