The Day of the Dolphin is a 1985 horror film directed by George A. Romero, the 4th in Romero's Dolphin Series, being preceded by Night of the Living Dolphin (1968) and Dawn of the Dolphin (1978).

The film uses a moderate amount of dolphins and CGI technology, most of it being CGI Dolphins.

Plot[edit | edit source]

The film opens in a scene in which a man is busy teasing a baby dolphin; holding a tuna directly above it, though just out of its reach. The dolphin suddenly ducks underwater, and jumps out. It suddenly spawns little horns on its head while in mid-air, and stabs the man, claiming his prize.

Flashfoward to 2024, directly after the events of the first movie. Yvette Casey (Angelina), Mark (Robert) and Drake (Steve Johnson) are hiding in a deserted McDonalds building behind the counters. Yvette tells Mark and Drake that they should leave their sanctuary for no apparent reason at all, and they agree. Shortly after leaving through the backdoor into an alley, Mark and Yvette realize Drake isn't with them. They start running, screaming loudly while jumping up and down, pushing over trash cans and banging on the walls of the alley in an effort to try to hide from whoever they're hiding from. Their plans are proved to not work, when suddenly a group of masked dolphins attack them. They are captured, and a smartly dressed dolphin in military clothing approaches them, asking them:"We want all your weapons, water, and fish, where are you hiding it?" Mark replies, saying, "Dunno, but there's a Burger King that serves fish burgers down the road." The dolphins start breaking into spasms, before leaving their prisoners and running toward Burger King.
