The Internet Meme Recognition and Approval Committee has recognized and approved Dihydrogen monoxide to be an internet meme. It's so poisonous! |
Dihydrogen monoxide is a deadly substance, and must be avoided at all costs. Its molecular structure consists of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
Composition and locations[edit | edit source]
Dihydrogen monoxide can be found as molecules in the air. If you want to avoid poisoning from this substance, don't breathe.
Don't be fooled: while dihydrogen monoxide is completely transparent, and at first glance poses no hazard to health, if ingested, it can sometimes be fatal, through what is known as 'DHMO intoxication'.
To make the problem further, it is found in nature: in lakes, rivers and the sea, DHMO is a prominent part of these structures. In the latter, the substance may prove even more dangerous, due to the addition of salt.
History[edit | edit source]
.
Dihydrogen monoxide was first isolated as a molecule in the 19th century, however it had been inhaled by humans for thousands of years before that time, due to its aforementioned presence in standard Earth air. Its dangers became evident through many incidents such as the Mitakihara incident during the 20th and early 21st centuries. By 2015 it was considered a Class A Dangerous Substance, causing intoxication, hallucinations, and mild death.
How to cure or avoid[edit | edit source]
There is no cure for the dihydrogen monoxide poisoning, only prevention. Not letting yourself and those around you breathe dangerous oxygen-containing air could help significantly and save from sudden death. Then again, you'll probably die from not breathing, because you need air to function. Dihydrogen monoxide is especially dangerous to pregnant women, as the chemicals in it pass across the placenta and into the baby's blood, possibly causing major birth defects.
