SxSE (South by South East) is a music and cultural festival held annually in Brenham Texas. Comparisons to the considerably more popular SxSW festival held in Austin, 80 miles to the West are often made unfavourably. The festival was first held in 2013 but shares links with the old Volkfest enjoy by countless generations of German immigrants to the region.

Foundation[edit | edit source]

The show was the brainchild of local musical industry figure Aunty Semite, the star of the Aunty Semite Show, a TV and Radio show popular in the mid-west of the USA, central Europe and amongst a number of Middle Eastern nations, particular those currently under occupation. Formerly named The Aunty Semite Half Hour, the show itself was a spin off from the earlier Nights of Mary Phagan Show and the "Anne and Leo" Frank Discussion Time radio shows. After viewing the massive success of SxSW Ms Semite decided to push for a similar festival in her hometown.

Notable Performers and Performances[edit | edit source]

The show was a vehicle for the reimergence of Country and Western singing star Krystal Nacht. Backed by the Aryan Brotherhood Band, Krystal had scored a number one hit in 1978 with the song “;;Don't It Make Your Brown Eyes Blue;;”, which was dedicated to the stirling work of Dr Josef Mengele, before disappearing into obscurity.

Prussian Blue performed many songs from their popular debut album "Father of Mein", a collection of classic tunes including ";;Run, Nigger, Run;;" (The official song of the 1936 Olympic Games) and ";;Fight for your Reich (to Party);;".

Economic Impact[edit | edit source]

SxSE is the highest revenue producing event in Brenham and the Washington County Region, outperforming the bi-annual WurstFest.
