Nigga (plural neegaz) is a term of endearment and empowerment used by some in the African American and hip hop communities. It has absolutely no racial connotation or pejoritave meaning[1]. Linguists[2] remain entirely unsure of the word's derivation. As such, it is generally used with the same freedom as terms like aloha.
Complexities[edit | edit source]
Many white leaders have been criticized by leaders in the black community (particularly the NAACP, or Niggas for the Advancement of All Colored People) for not using the word at every possible opportunity, instead resorting to far less empowering terms like "African American" or "person".
