So long, and thanks for all the fish I have left. I cannot participate any longer in what feels like a charade. Contributors are being harassed and chased away because they step out of line, sometimes without the opportunity to even explain themselves. While true trolls are allowed to go harassing people for long periods of time and often need to go through a full two month long Arbitration before any action against them is taken. There is no focus here on building an Encyclopaedia, there is focus in sticking to guidelines and biting anyone who disagrees or does not fully understand.

That was my initial reason for leaving. Since then I have been spit in the face, called a troll and a vandal, had an arbitration request put up against me where people put up evidence without being able to back it up with logs and fail to give a damn about the accuracy of it; further making personal attacks against me and calling me a "troll" for pointing out the mistakes, even though they know the seriousness of their libelous accusations. For all my work here at Wikipedia, this is extremely insulting.

I have made over 7000 edits, helped bring an article to featured status, managed to get 2 images and one translated piece of literature released into GFDL, uploaded about 70 images, managed to pass request for adminship with unanimous support, worked hard on admin backlogs and have gained almost 2000 entries in my admin log. I have done a great job, no matter what these people try to say about me. My account is now exactly 1 year old, and it will stay that way.

I am now editing at Citizendium and I strongly encourage others to do the same once it opens for business. You can join the pilot project here.

I'm terribly sorry to hear about that Konstantin. --Guinnog 10:13, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Tourettes Guy[edit | edit source]

Why did you remove the talk page? The main page states that we are allowed to talk on the talk page about the deletion of the Tourettes Guy page. In addition, according to Wikipedia's deletion rules, we are allowed to bring up new information on both the talk page and deletion review pages. Please recreate the page. Thanks.

Why did you do this? FullHouseFan24 20:55, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry to see you go.[edit | edit source]

I would normally try to say something to stop you, but looking at your user page, it looks like you've made up your mind. So I guess there's nothing to do but wish you a good time back in the real world. Good-bye! --tjstrf Now on editor review! 10:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Bye[edit | edit source]

I'm sorry to see you're leaving Wikipedia, although I fully understand your reasons. <guilt> I myself saw your notice on WP:AN being reverted, but didn't react.. </guilt>. In my opinion, the problem is that we've now attained a "critical mass", where the value of having new contributors is nearly completely offset by the problems that they bring. We spend so much of our wiki-time reverting vandalism, removing ads and spam e.t.c. that we're starting to forget why we came here in the first place, and bite any new editor who steps out of line. And I think that this is the fundamental limitation of Wikipedia: If we stop acting like the KGB, bad faith editors will run amok, and if we don't, we'll end up with a 'pedia consisting of a few thousand admins and old users. yandman 10:23, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm really sorry to hear that - you're a valued contributor and a great administrator. It pains me to see that your alternate account was blocked for so little reason - people should have been grateful that you were assisting with backlogs. In any other community, I'd encourage you to fight the system, but that often doesn't seem possible here. I do hope that you consider contributing again in the future. All the best. riana_dzasta 10:57, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Hope all goes well for your post-Wikipedia, and know that your contributions will be surely missed here. Hopefully we can learn from your rather wise statement, and work towards focusing this project on what it's really about. Good luck, -- Natalya 17:23, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

sorry to see you go. I am a new(ish) user, operating under good faith as well. however, all my reports of vandalism are ignored or deleted. i don't see how this equals out...Xiaden 16:07, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

If you're still reading here, Konstable, please take a look at my post to that thread. I won't pretend I understand what's going on here, but I find your leaving under these circumstances to be very sad. Regards, Newyorkbrad 20:06, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Just request desyropping in meta and write some articles and do simple non-admin work like what I did, just don't leave. Jaranda wat's sup 00:40, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Bye mate[edit | edit source]

Thanks for the message. Wow, I must admit its all been a bit much to take in... your official departure from your main account came whilst I was away for 2 weeks to Mt Maunganui so it seemed to me like I came back and all hell had broken loose.

I agree Wikipedia has problems, but I'm still enjoying it and figure I may be able to help - might even run for Arbcom to see if I can make a difference.

Take care, and if ever wanna catchup, my email link always works, or my real email address is easy enough to get (2000 results on google for gods sake) so you know where I am... :)  Glen  03:33, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Leaving on a good note[edit | edit source]

Why don't you request desysopping as your last gesture, to save everyone the time and trouble of the arbcom case. That would go a long way towards re-establishing good faith.-gadfium 04:32, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

I think it is long past leaving on a good note. I have now been called a vandal, a sockpuppetmaster (they were both legal and not abusive, but no one cares do they now), a troll, accused of disruption, and now the latest one of impersonating Ryulong (go on, ask him if I have ever held a grudge against him or even ever had any argument with him prior to this, or maybe ask him about my support for his recent RfA). A lot of mis-interpretations and a lot of inaccuracies presented as evidence (see Moe's arbitration comment for instance, for example lovely tales of Ryushort being autoblocked by AltUser's block that happened 24 hours later). With the level of inaccuracies I'm seeing all over the place it is clear that people are just out to get me now. I won't even bother to try to defend myself any futher, or point out any inaccuracies people bring up, let them have their fun - for that's exactly what Wikipedia is about. I have no faith in the arbitrators (heh one of my accusers is going to arbitrate the case, wow) and I doubt anyone will jump to defend me during arbitration, as hated as I have become due to this nonsense, let the tale of half-truths be told. But, as I said in my arbitration statement, I will not resign over something I know is bullshit, I don't mind being de-sysoped for some phoney reason inspired by mis-interpretations and mis-facts though - let them play their games, but I will keep my integrity and dignity.--203.109.209.49 05:13, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Two weeks ago, you were a user in good standing. If you'd left quietly then, you'd be sadly missed. I realise that you think you did nothing wrong, and it's the culture of Wikipedia that has something wrong with it, but you must also accept that many people who had nothing against you initially have looked at the case and think you've behaved badly. You're in a hole now, and common sense has it that you should stop digging. At the very least, just leave Wikipedia. Don't keep coming back and venting.-gadfium 05:21, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
I'd disagree with that statement. i've seen no-one here that has presented evidence that he has done anything wrong. Is it Steak?<Xiaden's Homepage> 19:13, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Re:Proper goodbye[edit | edit source]

I'm really sorry for these unfortunate events, which I don't want and I do not intend to try to explain. I can just tell one thing: I'll never forget your constructive criticism to Pericles and Demosthenes and especially your great contributions to Pericles. I really don't know what went wrong and who's responisble for all these, but for me you were and you still are a friend in Wikipedia and a person with a sharp mind. And the news of your leaving really distressed me. Farewell!--Yannismarou 09:31, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Au revoir, mon copain.[edit | edit source]

I don't know which people have told you that you didn't do a great job, but those people are insane. It's a real shame to lose an editor as excellent as you. Take care, and best of luck in whatever you do. -- Kicking222 19:34, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
