下の文章はアンサイクロペディアの井戸端に投稿したかったのですが、向こうのサーバーがダウンしているので、とりあえずこちらに投稿させて頂きます。
最近の日本語版アンサイクロペディアの異常な重さについて、Carlbさんに苦情を申し立てたところ、同じくサーバーの重さについて抗議していたオランダ語版管理者のD.G.Nereeさんが状況を教えてくれたので、こちらに引用しておきます。原文は英語版アンサイクロペディアの私の会話ページにあります。
こんにちは、カッスーガさん。私はオランダ語版のアンサイクロペディアの管理者で、私たちはサーバーの重さという大きな問題に直面しています。私がCarlBに質問したところ、CarlBは11の異なるアンサイクロペディアが、同一の2ギガバイトのサーバーを使っていることを教えてくれました。CarlBのマザーボードは4GBをサポートしておらず、CarlBは新型のマザーボードの用意をしており、それは3月中に使用されるそうです。CarlBの答えは、ここの「server」の節に書かれています。

The existing server has already been expanded to its limit, two gigabytes of memory. When many requests arrive at once, the memory becomes completely full; that makes the server much slower in handling peak demand.
As the communities grow larger, the servers need to grow larger in order to accept so many requests.
I've ordered a second server, hopefully it can be installed soon to take some of the load off the existing server.
Other Uncyclopedia wikis on the same servers are Brazil, Japan, Taiwan, Finland, Czech, Hungary, Thailand, Korea, Serbia, Slovenia, Madagascar: the *.uncyclopedia.info, *.pedia.ws and *.pedie.info wikis.
I tried the site this morning (what would be 13:00 GMT, so early-afternoon in most of Europe). When it's 10:00 am in Brazil, it's 22:00 (10pm) in Japan and 21:00 (9pm) in much of China. That's the worst case. Everyone is awake then, from Rio de Janeiro to Tokyo. Japan and Brazil have over 4000 wiki pages each.
Under those conditions? The site isn't down, but it is very slow. More people retreiving more pages from more wikis means more memory needed to keep up with demand - even if they're not all editing the text.
The server was upgraded at the end of December 2006 (to a 3.0GHz dual-core Intel processor, http://www.esecuredata.com/pricing.aspx) and it has two gigabytes of memory. If six requests arrive at once for different pages, it can handle this well. Add more demand and it will begin to slow down.
I'd asked my hosting provider a few weeks ago if the existing server memory could be expanded. They replied last week: "your current motherboard does not support going to 4gb. We are going to be getting in 4g-capable boards in March, so please check our website in a month or so."

Japanese Account on Korean Uncyclopedia[edit | edit source]

There are many Japanese accounts on Korean uncyclopedia. Including Asakaze, Kasuga, Yatobi, 話切徒, モリッシー・モリッシー. And they have sysop and bureaucrat privilege. There are also account ひとむら. But ひとむら said "I've not done registering.". Anyone is cheating?
I've never visited Korean uncyclopedia. So I have no account on ko.uncyclopedia.info. It is very dangerous if anyone thought ko:話切徒 equals ja:話切徒 and escalated his privilege. Kasuga, do you have a account on ko: ? --話切徒 12:10, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

2007年10月17日からのサーバーダウンについて[edit | edit source]
2007年10月17日から、Vistaサーバ内のアンサイクロペディアの不調が続いています。開発者のカールさんの会話ページに書き込まれた返答は以下の通りです。
It's one of the Internet connections *to* my upstream provider that's the problem. I asked today and latest word was "On: 17 Oct 2007 01:40 PM (GMT-4) - WE'er still working on it with teleglobe." That's why the remote APC reset isn't accessible; it's on the same broken Internet connection as the main server itself. The images.uncyc.org and download.uncyc.org files are on the old server (Vancouver instead of Toronto) and would be unaffected (all the data for the various projects was backed up there on the 15th). Odd they didn't say how long this would be down, as a server with no Internet connection is rather pointless? Last I'd heard was that, if it was still down as of tonight (EDT), it would be moved to a different IP address (on some other Internet connection in the same datacentre), in order to get back everything except the ability to restart the server remotely. We've been offline for a day, this is unusual for even a small part of a major commercial datacentre. --Carlb 18:09, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
