Diabetes, is a name for a disease disorder that affects humans upon ingesting sugar. There are two types of it, with no relation at all to each other except the previous sentence. Most people don't know the difference, which is why Type 1 diabetics aren't very nice to most people. For the sake of confusion, only Type 1 diabetes will be elaborated on. Type 2 is Somebody Else's problem.

Type 1 Diabetes[edit | edit source]

Those with Type 1 must stab themselves a minimum 10 times a day in their fingers or arms. Each stab costs them 3 USD, and they must also look at a number after they bring out enough blood. Depending on the number, they must then eat or stab themselves in the stomach with a needle with an amount of a watery substance. How much is determined by Math, which is one of the worst things about this disease disorder.

Cause and Treatment[edit | edit source]

The cause of Type 1 diabetes is completely unknown, but you can find out if it's already too late, assuming you are lucky enough to get it but unlucky enough to find out in time. However, there are ways to deal with this disease disorder. First of all, is the aforementioned stabbing in the fingers, arms, and stomach. A majority of people claim that this is not exactly the most pleasant thing to do. Research is hard at work trying to find out exactly what to do about this, but so far there are no volunteers for the Euthanasia Program. It can be said that the disease disorder is only as unpleasant as the treatments, but when you go through something called DKA you'd change your mind. One of the most important things for those with Type 1 is staying alive, which suddenly is really, really hard. One reason is that in the middle of the night, for no reason at all, your body may decide not to wake up that morning.

Positives of Type 1 Diabetes[edit | edit source]

  • Immediately declared medically unfit for conscription.
  • Special treatment from school and work, including bathroom breaks, food, and drinks.
  • Those with diabetes can have an unlimited amount of liquid aboard any plane in the US.
  • Dying in your sleep is much, much easier.
  • You may become blind, deaf, or both.
  • Everyone else's complaints become First-World problems.

Life with Type 1 Diabetes[edit | edit source]

People with this disease disorder can do the same things as a normal person, except flying a commerical jet, joining the military (with some exceptions), driving a freight truck (with exceptions), and consumption of sugary drinks. It is unlikely to be doing all these at the same time. Most of the rest of the differences are that people are ignorant of this disorder, and it takes some work just to do simple things like take the ACT or SAT.
