President Bush vetoes election results

New mascot, Vinny the Veto.

WASHINGTON, DC -- In what is only his second veto since taking office five years ago, U.S. President George W. Bush today vetoed the results of Tuesday's mid-term elections.

The President then went on to veto several internal memos, a lunch menu, and his TiVo's to-do list, before retiring for the evening.

Critics claim new BBC series pushes "Welsh Agenda"

Welsh Pride: We're here. We're Welsh. Ymdrin â.

CARDIFF, WALES -- Following its Sunday night premiere, several television watchdog groups are criticising the new series Torchwood as attempting to push some kind of 'Welsh Agenda'.

"I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being Welsh. It's the 21st Century, and I realise that some people are Welsh. I can deal with that. I just don't want to have it shoved down my throat like this."

The show's main character, the mysterious Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), has been kept geographically ambiguous, but there have been some strong hints that he might swing both ways. The rest of the Torchwood staff are clearly Welsh, however, and make no attempt to hide it.

"I'm also concerned about the show's affect on children. I'm certainly not claiming that watching Torchwood will turn kids Welsh, but it could definitely lead to curiousity and embarassing questions. What am I supposed to tell my son when he asks me about it?"

Russell T. Davis, the show's openly-Welsh creator, denies the accusations.

Torchwood currently airs Sunday nights at 10.00pm (post-watershed) on BBC3.
