Ballroom dancing

  1. A form of dancing that is performed totally indoors. It first originated in a disused handball court, hence the name. Couples are judged on their ability to pass between and through the paths of other couples without actually making contact or experiencing near-misses. Ballroom dancing has progressed to the point where TV networks have put on contests in prime time. Thousands of letters have been received by the networks asking, "What happened to football?"
