The Great Escape[edit source]

Mangotastic 21:26, November 25, 2009 (UTC) Just found out this classic film had no page, so went about creating it. Early feedback before I pad it out please.

Hello. I have reviewed this article for you. My Tree! 18:33, November 26, 2009 (UTC)
Humour: 2 There's oodles of opportunity for humour here and that can be addressed by the inclusion of a trivia section, maybe background info on the making of the film, phony quotes from the dialogue, etc. At the moment, it's still quite some distance away from making me laugh. Take a look at some of Wikipedia's film articles and invert what they do. Bolster up the humour quotas so far as the plot of the film goes. I suggest that you make it less documentary and focus it on being simply a work of fiction. You might even make mention of the little-known 4th tunnel ('Fred') which was considered a failure, despite it running all the way to Central London.
Concept: 3 Concept is okay, but at present, we're in first draft land. Try to consider merging the article's premise with other famous all-star cast war films. Calling the article "The Great Escape To Victory" might provide you with a better scope for creating a solid article. That way, the footballer Gordon McQueen will not look out of place here. Also, when rewriting this article give some thought to films of a similar ilk such as The Wild Geese, The Guns of Navarone, Where Eagles Dare.
Prose and formatting: 4 Some of the prose doesn't flow too well in some areas: "An increase in the use and awareness of tunnels of up to some percent has been reported in several sources in the years following the release of the documentary, most notably on Thursdays." is an example of this.
Images: 1 A spoof poster to the film you are spoofing is always a good standby. So far as the photo used here goes, I'm not sure why a mis-captioned picture of DiCaprio & Winslet is considered to be funny - But it ain't. The picture really needs to justify its inclusion, otherwise it's too random.
Miscellaneous: 4 The keyword here is More. I reckon you are more than capable of turning this article into one that would be in contention for Featured status. You show a lot of promise in comedy writing as your previous contributions show, so please don't be dismayed by my review.
Final Score: 14 As I say, sorry about the excess of reds & oranges in this review, but I do think that the article needs to be worked on a lot more than this before it's ready for Pee Review. I know you wanted a review before you pad it out, but there really does need to be more meat on the bones first. Good Luck and I hope this review has been of some use to you. If you need any more help on the article, please contact me.
