Generation Z is a 2013 (do you believe it?) song by Tom Odell. It was created to diss a generation, in that case, Generation Z. Somehow it got even more popularity in 2022 when TikTok popularized it. As of now, it is Odell's most popular song to date, both on the charts and streaming.

The music video can be found here.

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

You're gonna take me somewhere so you know I care

And it's too cold but I don't wanna go there

You bought me flowers on a string

But it's just a useless thing

You're trying to make me feel alright

Even from all those fights

Is this what you wanted to be?

You're trying to overpower me

It's Generation Z, Generation Z

You're trying to overpower me

It's Generation Z, Generation Z

You're trying to overpower me

It's Generation Z, Generation Z

You're trying to overpower me

And if somebody hurts you, you're gonna gaslight

But your words don't work several times

You've used your voice, oh my god, you're so fucking rude

Words will win but you'll always lose

And you'd sing a song that'd be yours

But I'd be unsurprised if it ended up in court

And is this what you wanted to be?

You're trying to overpower me

It's Generation Z, Generation Z

You're trying to overpower me

It's Generation Z, Generation Z

You're trying to overpower me

It's Generation Z, Generation Z

You're trying to overpower me

Oh, you're overpowering me

I was just thinking of

And you'd sing a song that'd be yours

But I'd be unsurprised if it ended up in court

And is this what you wanted to be?

You're trying to overpower me

It's Generation Z, Generation Z

You're trying to overpower me

It's Generation Z, Generation Z

You're trying to overpower me

It's Generation Z, Generation Z

You're trying to overpower me, me
