UnNews:SpaceX’s Banana Rocket Launches on Record First Flight
Sunday, February 22, 2026
SpaceX’s first Banana rocket launched on Saturday night, making its first mission to space as the company works to certify its rocket bananas for up to 40 flights each. This move of cost cutting innovation has experts speculating if Banana rockets could really be the future of space travel.
The rocket industry has had its share of challenges. Spending has nudged north of $1,000,000,000 on rockets that fail to effectively use their thrusters to create enough upwards propulsion to pass the stratosphere. This effectively is what financial experts call "a big waste of money.".
SpaceX has since realised this and began research in as early as January with extensive testing. They came to the conclusion that using bananas instead of the normal composite aluminum made for better aerodynamics because "Banana weighs less than aluminum.".
Additionally, spelling seems to be a hurdle. "Look, just because we have PhDs in important subjects doesn't mean we're great at everything." said one Engineer. "Many of our employees cannot spell 'banana'. Is it 'banananana'? Is it 'bannanna'? We had a fight just last week during recess-Flight Engineer Louis pronounces the word as "Bamanama"! C'mon!".
The Fruitlink 101 missions hope to add another 28 fruit-themed broadband internet satellites to SpaceX’s growing low Earth orbits of more than 9,700 satellites.
Liftoff from at Cape Bananaveral happened at 1 p.m. EST just after brunch with many attendees stating that the pancakes were terrific, the staff was friendly, and because one orders at the counter up front and the drinks are self-serve there's no need to tip. The total-only $12!
