SEABROOK, New Hampshire -- Sarah Palin said Sunday she didn't mean to step on Mitt Romney's "thingy" by showing up with the horn blaring in her "One Candidate" tour bus the very moment Romney began to announce his candidacy for president.
The newspaper The New Hampshire Leader put Palin's party crashing at the top of its coverage last Friday, the day after Romney rolled out his official campaign announcement. Romney’s announcement was not even mentioned in the paper.
The former Alaska governor said she wasn't at fault because the bus horn got stuck; besides, the media just can't get enough of her. As for Romney, she said although she disagreed with his policies while he was governor of "some state," she certainly isn't trying to diminish his manhood by standing on his little thingy.
"I apologize if I stepped on Mitt’s thingy, and I am sorry if I stole all of that PR he needed or wanted that day. I do sincerely apologize. I didn't mean to steal the show! But it just kinda happens wherever I go," Palin told Fox News Sunday.
Despite the apology, Palin may become THE challenger to Romney, whose health care plan for "that place he comes from" has been criticized by some Republicans as being way too free. Palin said at least Romney is now arguing against a federal version of "his stupid idea."
Palin also took the opportunity to clear up some image issues, defending herself from accusations that she made up her own version of the historical account of Paul Revere's ride during an interview last week.
"You know what? I didn't mess up about Paul Revere. Here is what Paul Revere did. He warned the Americans that the British were coming, then he warned the British that the Americans were coming, and he collected rewards of cash from both sides," she said. "He did warn the British. And in a shout-out, gotcha type of question that was asked of me, I answered candidly. See, I do know my Alaskan history!" she said.
