In an unexpected revival-which-is-not-really-a-revival of the Harry Potter series, author JK Rowling announced that she's made a deal with Warner Brothers to release a series of mockumentaries based on the universe.
The mockumentaries will be adapted from a "textbook" that belonged to Harry Potter in the original book series named "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." written by Newt Scamander. In 2001, the book was published for real, because why not?
According to Rowling, the idea was floated to her by one of the studio bosses, and it clicked with her. Whether this clicking happened before or after she was shown a multi-million dollar contract is currently unknown.
Fans were largely excited by the prospect, though some expressed their concern regarding the setting of the film. "I mean, I really like the idea of Newt Scamander doing this whole Animal Planet thing." commented one such fan, "But it's 70 years prior to the main series. I mean, even in the wizarding world, do we really know if filmmaking had evolved to the point of talkies? I really don't want to watch a silent film about magical wildlife, I'd be bored to death!"
