LONDON, United Kingdom -- The meat of some beef lasagne products recalled by Findus earlier this week was 100% Michael Winner, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has said.
On Monday Findus withdrew from retailers its beef lasagne in 320g, 360g and 500g sizes as a precaution after large quantities of the recently deceased director of the Death Wish series were detected.
The FSA said: "We have no evidence to suggest that this is a food safety risk. However, if a product contains minor celebrities it should be labelled accordingly.”
They further advised that people who have bought any Findus beef lasagne products should not eat them and return them to the shop they bought them from. Advice that has remained unchanged since the product first came to market.
There are also suggestions that Winner had been treated with the aftershave Brute.
The FSA said: “Contemptuous food critics treated with Brute are not allowed to enter the human food-chain that this would may cause an allergic reaction in even moderately educated women.“
Such accusations have been rubbished by those close to Winner who insist he liked to “kick-it au naturel.”
The wider contamination controversy arose in mid-January when Irish quality-control inspectors announced they had found horsemeat in some iPad Minis stocked by a number of UK supermarket chains including Tesco, Iceland and Lidl. Faint traces of Jack Lemon was also found in some Halal prison food.
