Stupid memes aside, there is no escape from the Buckeye State. They say that "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas", but that statement is far truer for the "Birthplace of Aviation." If we were to make a sequel to Escape from Ojai called, well, Escape from Ohio, it would be simply impossible to give the game a proper ending, other than you realizing that you are permanently stuck in Ohio.
Maybe one day, Ohio will rule the whole world, and thus both Ojai and Ketchikan will be part of Ohio. Perhaps then you can finally return to the lands you lost so long before.
In the meantime, many things could happen. Nuclear war, out-of-control global warming, alien invasions, Godzilla, a return of Luna, the awakening of the Great Old Ones, Earth getting sucked into a black hole, among other things.
For millions of years, the world has had its fair share of brave heroes and heroines to hold back the threat of the planet's destruction. But now, only one remains, and that's you. And your unavailability makes the planet more vulnerable than ever before.
You, Earth's greatest defender, have no certainty about the future of our world, and as long as you're stuck in Ohio, you'll never be a hero. You'll barely even be a zero.
