I'll tell you why, it's because he's black and black people aren't allowed to misbehave. Beckham was accused of marital infidelity a while back, though nothing was ever proved. His wife told reporters that, even if the claims were proved, she'd stick with him for the sake of their children. So, the story was a bit of a non-starter in the first place and, once the press realised there wasn't going to be any juicy scandal, both they and the world lost interest. Tiger's story, meanwhile, involved at least a dozen women, a car crash, proven infidelity and a temporary career break - plenty enough for the press to get their teeth into and the world took an interest. I'm inclined to agree with you that black people - and other visible ethnic minorities - are often subject to double standards, but I don't think there's much of a case here.
