To add to his downfall Gambaccini's obvious far-left political leanings led him to make substantially incorrect statements regarding American politics in interviews like the Bio Channel's biography on Freddie Mercury. He, either out of ignorance or political bias, wrongfully blamed music sensorship of the gay community by American radio stations on the Reagan and Bush administrations when, in fact, the People's Music Resource Center (PMRC) was chaired by then Democrat Senator Al Gore's wife, Tipper, and most members of the PMRC were Democrat senators or their spouses. Additionally, the major radio stations in America are overwhelmingly owned and/or operated by supporters of the Democrat party, which also contradicts Gambaccini's editorializing. Statements such as these, whether intentionally misleading or just misinformed, have contributed to tarnish Gambaccini's legacy and objectivity.
