BunBurying?[edit source]
Might want to review it, but what's "bunburying"? 01:36, 18 March 2009 (UTC
- "Bunburying" is a reference to Oscar Wilde's play The Importance of Being Ernest, which I read about a year ago. According to wikipedia, in the play "Algernon, an aristocratic young Londoner, pretends to have a friend named Bunbury in the country who is frequently in ill health. Whenever Algernon wants to avoid an unwelcome social obligation, he makes an ostensible visit to his "sick friend"." Algernon refers to this activity as Bunburying. As for the reason I put it it, I personally think Wilde "quotes" are funnier when they actually reference something he has written or done. (Oh, and in the play, Algernon eats an entire tray of cucumber sandwiches, so that's where that comes from. 68.84.254.227 17:59, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
