Baby Shark
Baby Shark is a children's campfire song, made popular by Children's Campfire LLC. It has been referred to by the Person Who Only Uses Professional Jargon as a "dead meme".
Origin[edit | edit source]
"Baby Shark" was first created by Children's Campfire LLC in 1953 as a way to get kids to sing about sharks at campfires. Children's Campfire LLC saw that virtually every other animal was sung about at campfires, including the elephant ("Willoughby Wallaby Woo"), the duck ("Be Kind To Your Web-Footed Friends"), and the mongoose ("I'm Sure There's a Campfire Song About a Mongoose, But I Can't Think Of One On The Top Of My Head, So I'll Just Make Up The Lyrics As I Go Along"). But there was not a campfire song about a shark. Furthermore, with the planned release of Jaws in the year 1975, the public would be very scared of sharks. So, to further make the sharks seem "harmless", Children's Campfire LLC attached the word "baby" to the beginning of "shark" to make Baby Shark.

Baby Shark lawsuit[edit | edit source]
In 1972, a child was found dead in the ocean. She was found playing with sharks. It was found that an hour before her death, she was singing "Baby Shark" with her camp around the campfire. Children's Campfire LLC was sued by the girl's mother, and she was successful. However, Children's Campfire LLC was allowed to remain in business, despite the huge loss of cash they had.
Children's Campfire LLC lawsuit and closure[edit | edit source]
In 1996, it was found the Children's Campfire LLC was guilty of harassing children over the course of two decades, if not more. Employees of Children's Campfire LLC would attend camps to see if their song "Baby Shark" was being sung. Then the employee would ask a child to come over by him, and he would say that the child won the Baby Shark prize. Then he would, well, you know. Either way, these horrendous acts were what caused Children's Campfire LLC to shut out of business, not the 1972 lawsuit.
Today[edit | edit source]
Despite its treacherous history, "Baby Shark" has proven a popular song for decades. It has been performed by many artists around the world, including Picasso, Van Gogh, and Henri Matisse.
