Process towards independence[edit | edit source]

Castille's process towards gaining independence was rather short compared to that of other countries. It took place in a few years in an amount of time only paralelled by the creation of The Republic of Indian Stream.

Roots of the Movement[edit | edit source]

Castille began the process of gaining independence in 2017, after Catalonia gained independence from Spain. While Catalonia gaining independence was based on them not wanting to have to pay for anything in the rest of Spain, Castille wanted independence so that it could put up border checkpoints on their border with La Mancha because marauding knights kept coming into Castille. However, since they couldn't just kick La Mancha out of Spain, they decided to declare independence so they could stop knights errant from coming in and attacking windmills.

Early Internal Divisions[edit | edit source]

Early on in the independence movement, there were divisions on wether to take León and other nearby regions, as well as the fate of Madrid, as it had yet to be sacked by Don Quixote. Some members of the movement wanted to take all of Spain. Some in Valencia wanted to join Castille, but others had hoped for an alience with Catalonia, and since it was fully surrounded by Spain.
