So You Think You Can Joust? (SYTUCJ?) is a popular reality game show created by Lord Henry Walters and is produced by Huldenite Productions and Remy-Bloon America. It is broadcasted on the Fox Network in the US, on Fox Japan in Japan , on Fox Iran in Iran and on Fox DR Congo in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Now in it's third season, the show has received consistently high ratings since its inception in 2004. The object of the show is to discover and popularise up-and-coming jousts across America. A wide variety of contestants are chosen, ranging from amateur knights to winners of numerous Renaissance Fair jousting tournaments. The prize for each season has been 12 Groats and a well-fattened hog. There has been much controversy surrounding the show, as many critics and senators consider it too violent to be shown on prime time television. Many human rights groups, including Amnesty International, have labelled the show as being an extreme violation of Human Rights. It was even banned for a short period of time before the government realised that practically all reality television shows were Human Rights violations, and the show was promptly returned to air. It was created in association with two other reality tv shows, Who Wants to Be at the Top of The Feudal System? and Survivor: Edinburgh Castle.

Season I[edit | edit source]

The Contestants[edit | edit source]

Season 1's batch of contestants were widely regarded as the most talented and many, especially the competition's winner, had successful careers after the series (something relatively unheard of in reality TV circles). After touring the nation the judges (Red Walters, Gina McDay and Simon Howell)decided upon 10 contestants. Humphrey Dool from Indiana, Geoffrey Geoffreys from Tucson, John Smith from Washington D.C., Yulo McNas from San Antonio, Buggsy Danser from Detroit, Tom Redthorn from Dallas, Robert O'Donahue from Miami, Tyson Queels from New York, Carlos Santanzo from Boston and Olaf Hennersonn from New Orleans. Olaf was washed away in a flood a week before the show began but was luckily found washed upon on the shores of Los Angeles, the city the show was taking place, 5 days later.

Episodes 1,2,3 and 4[edit | edit source]

The series began with a contest between Humphrey and Tom. Humphrey, being an experienced jouster that had one several tournaments and quickly took Tom out with a headshot. After screaming in agony for a few minutes and trying desperately to patch up the gaping wound that had displaced his eye, he was shown the door by the judges, receiving a 4 from Red Walters, 5 from McDay and 1 from Howell (who filled the role of mean British judge). Humphreys received an 8,9 and 1 respectively. In other competitions Yulo beat Geoffrey, Buggsy walloped Robert. Olaf squeezed past Carlos, and Tyson handed John a belting(as well as a ruptured spleen).

Episodes 5,6 and 7[edit | edit source]

Buggsy was widely regarded as the Good Samaritan of the cast.

This trio of episodes was known as the real "bloodbath" of the season. It started in a rather mundane fashion when Tyson decided to leave the series because his family had been killed in a housefire. The producers came to the came to the conclusion that people who were so ungrateful for the opportunity weren't wanted on the show anyway. The jousting was soon in full swing though as Yulo defeated Olaf in a particularly dramtic fashion. It was so exciting, in fact, that after the coroner had ruled Olaf's death as a hemorrhage the entire cast and crew went out for a pizza party. Buggsy's match-up against Humohrey was another cracker of a joust, with the competition ending as a draw after 12 close rounds. Humphrey left on friendly terms after being held at gunpoint by Buggsy. The director of the series, when asked about the situation, was reported as saying "Oh, that Buggsy! He's a character!".
