ACT I: A Day In The Country[edit | edit source]

FADE IN:

In the English countryside, two gents are walking side by side carrying rifles.

ARTHUR: I say, what a marvellous day for hunting.

[Off-screen, a rifle fires, startled geese start honking]

MR PONCY: Rather. I couldn't agree more on that point.

ARTHUR: So tell me young chap, hows it going the that lovely piece of crumpet, Elizabeth Richley?

MR PONCY: I'll ask you not to refer to my fiance in that manner, thank you very much.

ARTHUR: I'm just saying that she's quite the fanciful young lady. You'd best watch out, lest someone swoop in and steal her from you.

MR PONCY: Nonsense. Elizabeth would never leave me for someone else. We're very much in love.
