The comic strip.

Spy vs. Spy is a wordless black and white comic strip that has been published in Mad magazine since 1961. It it based on the real-life rivalry between Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery.

The comic features two spies, Black (Brosnan) and White (Connery). They are in a constant state-of-war with one another. The main storyline is them coming up with increasingly sophisticated ways of doing away with the other.

The usual plot would be one spy setting up a trap for the other to fall into and be killed. Sometimes (1-3 on a 1d6), the trap would work, but sometimes the other spy would come up with a brilliant counter-plan of his own, thus killing the spy whom set-up the initial trap, and thus winning the match.

Many of the early cartoons, published in 1841, had both spies coming up with the same exact plan to trap the other. The usual result was hours of laughter, and a draw.

Characters[edit | edit source]

The Black Spy.
The White Spy.
  • The Black and White Spies: Employed by MI6 of the United Kingdom, they order identical drinks and have similar taste in women. The one major thing that sets them apart is color of their uniforms. The Spies do battle against each other with a variety of complicated (sometimes ridiculously so) weapons, machines and props, all supplied by the Q-branch of MI6. The victor alternates every other comic, and neither spy is portrayed as good or evil since both of them are equally ruthless and silly towards one-another.
