The following is a list of reasons why wikis have no reference value. At first, i will have put an disclaimer:

I respect this uncyclopedia and i am also a contributor of many wikis. This is only a list of reasons that why wikis should not be trusted with your soul. It is not intended to offend anyone at all, and it's directed towards wikipedia and most wikia wikis with a large userbase. It has no relation to en.uncyclopedia.co.

Preface[edit | edit source]

Before i explain why a wiki has no reference value, I will have to explain the possibly deliberately easily manipulated wiki system. A wiki system is something that seems like a gift enconomy but is NEVER to be confused with one. The true meaning of the wiki system, is similar to communism, as it does not produce, it only manipulates and destroys. While smaller wikis that are consisted of belevolent and closely bonded people are exempt from this rule, this is extremely true in large wikis where many people act in different ways. In a community that is filled with technocracies, this can't be closer to the truth.

List[edit | edit source]

  • Anyone can edit a wiki. This means that anyone arranging from children, cretins, manipulators, serial killers, psychopaths, SJWs and paid stooges can edit it. And lazy people, or non tech savy people will treat it as a reliable source of information. Imagine that how reliable that thing is if it's written by an 12 year old, or anders behring brevik? (Trust me, anders behring brevik edits wikipedia)
  • Because the wiki system is an exploitable system, it is a literal magnet to manipulators and technocracies, as wikis are the lazy people's encyclopedia and if you can control a wiki, you had basically controlled everything about that subject, and you can also change how people perceive the event. Of course you can manipulate all the lazy people.
  • Anyone adding content to a wiki will eventually run into trouble because people have different standards of content. People who add content will eventually run into three ends; 1. Having all of their work deleted and themselves blocked, 2. Getting over it and change, 3. The bullies eventually explode in a diva rage and leave. It is usually the first one that meets the editor, the second can only happen when the persecutors do not want to remove him completely and the third is only possible when the persecutors are outnumbered. Worse is when the person cares about the wiki so much that they gave out their real name, for they will get an public shaming.
  • Vandalism;Any wiki that allows unregistered users to edit is very prone to vandalism. While dedicated trolls will create a bunch of attack pages with all sorts of funny vandalism, most people just insert stuff like "Barack Osama eats dog shit" and leave. While larger wikis have bots that can delete these mess in seconds, imagine users see this vandalism in a split second when they were finding information for their school project. What's worse, smaller wikis do not have auto revert bots and vandalism can go undetected for weeks, months or years depending on the inactivity of the wiki.
  • Deletionists; Wikis with no specific content are very prone to deletionists, a type of quasi troll-vandal that likes to pretend they have high standards on quality but they will just delete any page so when people want to see it, the page was gone. In wikipedia, it was "lack of notability". in uncyclopedia, it is "unfunny". We had nothing to delete because we deleted all the stuff, but on the other side, 7 to 8 articles are on the death row in a day. So next time when people want to laugh at "Camp Fuck You Die", it's gone.
  • Any Political wiki with an NPOV policy is extremely prone to manipulation, especially if it follows wikipedia structure. And especially in places where neo fascist terrorists are present. This is because the NPOV in this situation could just mean, "What the imperialists want us to think". For example, illegitmate coups in Venezuela, Syria and Ukraine can be passed as a "Genuine revolution for democracy and freedom" And the "Rebels" (paid thugs) are passed as democracy loving freedom fighters. Political subjects are NEVER NPOV, and anyone who does so is most likely a marionette playing in the hands of imperialism.
  • Most large wikis are inhabited by people who do not produce, but only destroy. When they see someone contributing, they do not improve, but only revert, usually with no reason, or something unreasonable, like "Waste of KB". (Really, i saw it.) These people just revert your edits in your face and if you try to sort it out you may be blocked.
  • Most Wikis are not ran by experts; They are ran by fandom members and university dropouts, most of them being less than 20 years old. A glance at some of the famous wikipedia admin's real appearance and background will make you realize how credible they are for your grades.
  • There is also a type of people known as a narcissitic control freak which disguises itself as a useful user, usually with a supporting sockpuppet to disguise itself as 2 persons, and then proceeds to manipulate users and eventually causing the wiki to collapse. I saw vibrant wikis reduced to ruins with only 3 to 4 people because of this. The only 3 situations where this does not happen is a wiki where the users are so righteous and belevolent that it can sniff out all of the fishy users and prevent them before they can do anything fishy, a small wiki where there are less than 10 users, all of them being belevolent, or a wiki where everyone is a technocracy themselves. The latter 2 is the usual situation as manipulators see manipulating small wikis a pointless act and the third is a perfect place for manipulators to drive new users out as they blend in well. This is a famous troll tactic in encyclopedia dramatica's Vandal/How-to page.
  • Most university professors, unfortunately, are not tech savy people and can't sniff out your wikipedia drawed bullshit, so this explains the increasing number of college dropouts once wikipedia referencing people reach irl.
