News has never been so funny - except in people's imaginations, where it sucks.

Portsmouth, UK Recent years have seen the BBC gaining ground on the traditionally 'funny' or 'spoof' news sites, throwing the might of its near monopoly into creating idiocy and humour from naturally occurring events and blatant lies.

"Large dosages of satire, sarcasm and sensationalisation, usually reserved for comic media have been what's given us the edge" - said DG of the BBC.

For example, only yesterday, we ran a story saying that burning coal was actually GOOD for climate change, and greenies were enemies of the future. We even ran this picture and said it wasn't going to happen!

Some of the stories over recent years have had the likes of Newsbiscuit and the Onion reeling. Headlines like Nuns disbanded due to argument aren't initially funny, but in the context of a vow of silence and disgusting habits - well, Newsbiscuit just can't compete.

Terror alert from chillis was another of my favourites, said DG.

But it may not all be roses for the conglomerate, since the small, volunteer funded parody sites are bringing the weight of the Monopolies commission to bear on the BBC.

If anyone else wants to finish this off, because I'm bored now - said one spoof contributor to no one at all since they'd all stopped reading by this point.
