NOT the prodigy you are thinking of.

The Prodigy is a British band that suffices genuine musical creativity with repetitive cacophonies that are bearable enough depending on the intoxication of their listener. The band gained popularity in the early 90s but has managed to maintain its unique "homicidal white supremacist" image over the years. They are pioneers of the "big beat" genre, which is basically new wave music but with cocaine in music videos. And they are fucking awesome.

Formation[edit | edit source]

Damon Albarn, who formed The Prodigy.

The band was formed in 1991 in London by a man named Damon Albarn, who had previously worked with the band Blur. The group's first single, "Charly" was a song sampling a cat from an early 1970s PIF. How weird. Their second single, "FIRE!!!" was a song about setting things on fire, along with many backwards Satanic messages. Then two weirdos named Keith Punk and Maxim Notsoreality joined only as retarded backup dancers and singers. Their lineup hasn't, although it should have, changed yet due to money issues. But they don't give a shit at all.

Fire[edit | edit source]

After the band discovered they had used up all their musical ideas on their first single, they concluded that they could recycle both of those ideas into a multitude of songs, tunes, bangers and wangers to an unknowing public if they did so under the pretence of basic themes.

They came up with the theme of fire for some songs first. Songs in this category include (surprisingly enough) "Fire!", "Firestarter" (the first and, to date, only of their songs for which there were lyrics other than just the song title), "World's on Fire" and "Firefucker". Beavis likes this.

Baby's Got a Temper[edit | edit source]

This was their failed attempt to remix nursery rhymes into electronic music. It sounded like a baby crying. I mean really.

Paganism[edit | edit source]

Next those geniuses went out and made a few jams about pagan shit. Songs in this theme include "Voodoo People", "Narayan", "Omen" and "Warrior's Dance". None really made any sense.

"Smack my Bitch Up" controversy[edit | edit source]

The official music video for the rape anthem featured a woman getting raped, having sex, drinking, snorting cocaine, beating up a man, but best of all showing tits. NICE JUICY TITS. BOING! BOING! BOING! It was then banned from MTV.

The breakup[edit | edit source]

After the controversy of "Smack my Bitch Up",the band was forced to breakup by XL Records. But always, remember kids, if your future girlfriend dumps you, SMACK YOUR MOTHERFUCKING BITCH UP!
