July Annie Chiara Wardon(born 11 July 1985) better known as July Wardon or simply July is a British singer/songwriter and actress. She is perhaps best known for her single Fight For This Kill and her role on the sucessfull soap drama Coronation Street.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Wardon was born and raised on a council estate in Leeds a city which lies in West Yorkshire. She was the youngest of three siblings. She has an older sister Julie and older brother Jack. Although her mother Gatabatha and farther Marko divorced when she was five years old she still has contact with both parents.

Her name Wardon is thought to be in relation to both parents surnames. Her mothers being Ward and her fathers being Weedon.

Early Career[edit | edit source]

Before her raise to fame Wardon worked part-time in the supermarket Asda while and after attending College. After leaving college Wardon began to apply to attend performance University's but was rejected.

Wardon reflects on this difficult time in Food Weekly magazine saying; "After being rejected I felt so helpless. I became clinically depressed and gained lots of weight. I was told that I was very creative but didn't have the stage appearance that they wanted"

Wardon then began looking for a job to earn an income. By the age of nineteen she left home. She describes her childhood as being "a struggle but happy." She says; "We had next to nothing. My poor mum would work all hours and we would only see her before school and briefly afterwards as she would often be out till 10 o clock."

Wardon then began looking for a job in a bank. She soon after became an office clerk in Halifax Bank of Leeds. Although she was happy with her job she knew that music was what she wanted from life.

Early Music and Television Career[edit | edit source]

In November 2007 Wardon auditioned for the role of a spoof of Natalie Imbruglia's single "Torn" for a British comedy show titled Lets Sing. Wardon wrote lyrics for the song which were aimed to spoof Imbruglia's music video. The show aired on BBC 3. The show was a minor hit but never aired a second show.

Wardon was soon after approached by music record label Lonigtosh Records as they were impressed by her creative style of music lyric writing.

2009- A Weighty Problem[edit | edit source]

After being signed to Lonigtosh Records in February 2008 Wardon began work on an album. Whilst in the studio Wardon wrote and recorded songs including Bingo, Outta Bin and All I Eat All I Don't.

After having many songs lined up there were plans to release single Bingo as Wardon's first single these plans soon fell through due to lack of funding with the record label. Following this Wardon parted ways with Lonigtosh Records in Marth 2009. Although it has been speculated that Wardon was dropped by her record label with no choce foer herself she denies this. Wardon explains that she simply left the record company as she "had much more ambition for her music career."

In April 2009 Wardon signed a record deal with Zone a Universal Records company. After signing with Zone Records Wardon carried on with the production of her album. During this time songs such as The Wobbly Kind were written and produced. This then became Wardon's first released single. The single had some success in the UK and peaked at number 14 on the singles chart in May 2009.

In July 2009 a second single My Pie was announced along with plans to release an album which was titled A Weighty Problem.

My Pie was released in August 2009. The single wasn't as successful as her first single and peaked at number 35 in the UK Singles Chart.

Two weeks later album A weighty Problem was released. The album however failed to make an impact on the charts and peaked at number 29 on the UK Album Charts.

The album received mainly negative reviews from critics. One saying; "The album just simply isn't great. It fails to impress to the extend of The Wobbly Kind.

In September 2009 a third single Earthquakes was announced. The single talks about causing an earthquake everytime Wardon moved. The single cover featured Wardon with images such as an earthquake measurement graph. The artwork also featured a phrase "Everytime I walk. Everytime I move" which relates to the song lyrics.

The single had similar success to My Pie and Earthquakes peaked at number 39 on the UK Singles Chart.

Single Can't Eat Veg was made available as a single but with no promotion charted at 126.
