Pokémon Legacy Heroes is a trilogy Fire Red hack I'm working on.

Introduction[edit | edit source]

Are you tired of the same Kanto with the same old 151 Pokémon, 8 Gyms, Elite Four, etc. done in the exact same way just with a few tweaks being called original hacks? Well, how about visiting Kanto in a new time and place, in a completely different way?

I'd like to show you a game called Pokémon: Legacy Heroes. It's a hack of Fire Red with many new and exciting changes. It's a section of the Pokémon World like you've never seen before.

History[edit | edit source]

Using the anime (primary story, secondary timeline) and manga (primary timeline, secondary story) as basis for canon, let's assume a few things:

  • 1990 is year 1, when Mew was patented (discovered)? Satoshi Tajiri published Capsule Monsters. Pokémon Red and Green started development. Dr. Fuji started his cloning experiment after losing Amber Fuji years in the past.
  • Year TAJ 5 (1995): Mewtwo destroys the experiments.
  • TAJ 6 (1996): RedAsh, Leaf and Gary begin their journey. RedAsh and Leaf are 10 and Gary is 11.
  • TAJ 7 (1997): Orange Islands?
  • TAJ 8 (1998): Yellow chapter.
  • TAJ 9 (1999): Gold and Silver chapter.
  • TAJ 10 (2000): Crystal
  • TAJ 12 (2002): Ruby and Sapphire chapter.
  • TAJ 14 (2004): FireRed and LeafGreen
  • TAJ 15 (2005): Emerald
  • TAJ 16 (2006): Diamond & Pearl
  • TAJ 17 (2008): Platinum

...

Fast-forward to TAJ 26 (2016) and you have our story.

Regions[edit | edit source]

Due to global warming and improved irrigation and desalination systems, the Pokémon world is much greener than before. In consequence, the sea levels have dipped with the water becoming more saline. Human settlements have also expanded to previously uninhabitable lands. Open oceans have become sea routes. Sea routes have become salt marshes. And former islands are becoming extensions of continents.

Kanto[edit | edit source]

The war of the last generation has passed. Society and technology has advanced and the Kanto region continues to be a major hub of the Pokémon World. While some previously inhabited cities are now ghost towns, other small villages have become quite grandiose in size and splendor.
Towns

  • Pallet Town: Remains much of the same despite a population boom. There is still a research center headed by the young Professor Gary Oak, but it is much smaller than the former Oak Corral. He is following the footsteps of his grandfather, who is now Professor Emeritus assisting other Pokémon Researches. Assistant Professor Sketchit often comes by to give lectures. There is a major port (sea/air) just south of the town. There is increasing concern from the locals about encroaching development.
  • Viridian Town: A bit smaller than before, The suburban sprawl of Viridian was mostly abandoned following an economic collapse. People moved back into the city or moved out elsewhere. The former Suburbia is now mostly farmland, with forests nearby.
  • Pewter Town: Once-bustling mining hub has become a wasteland of poverty. The introduction of bigger and better machines has forced people out of a job. Those who are left are mostly here due to family pressure.
  • Mt. Moon: Not much of it is left after all the mining of Moon Stone. The Clefairy population is believed to be extinct. There is a small mining village on top of the collapsed peak. The Moon Cave is no longer navigable. This place is geologically unstable and it is strongly advised that hikers avoid this area at all costs. There is a route bypassing this area.
  • Cerulean City: Mostly unchanged, but I wonder what's brewing in the Gym?
  • Celadon City: Considered the cosmopolitan hub of the Kanto region, this city is still going strong. Pollution problems are a thing of the past in the main city, but don't be too optimistic of the outskirts.
  • Saffron City: The capital of the Kanto Region. More overcrowded than ever before, an underground city had to be built to manage the population.
  • Vermillion City: Military Museum, fan clubs, and port hub. Same as before, only more crowded.
  • Lavender City: Virtually all of the original inhabitants are gone along with the ghosts. The cemetaries were moved over to the mountains nearby, which doesn't sound like a good thing for people going through Rock Tunnel.
  • Fuschia City: More populated, no more Safari Zone, and I wonder what else?
  • Seafoam Islands: Chain of volcanic islands that are still active. The original two islands have fused into a large island.
  • Cinnabar Island: Revived. It is believed that the volcano will not erupt again for thousands of years.
  • New Island: Who's occupying this island-mansion?
  • Indigo City: City far away from civilization, it's still going strong with the Pokémon League.

Kanto Underground

  • Mostly under the densely populated region, there's many more entrances and pathways.
