G.A.T.E.

Known on the streets as "da thing", the GATE program was an experimental government funded program set up in the recent decades codenamed "Touched". Around the turn of the century, it boomed into a multi-hundred thousand dollar enterprise and was renamed G.A.T.E.

The main point of the business is to pluck geniuses out of the crowd slowly, determining them and filtering them out through special tests, and then send them into a parallel dimension, so in the event of humanity destroying itself or progress slowing down to a halt because of a lack of smart people, they can be re-transfered safely to their original dimension and help rebuild the world. It's sort of like inter-dimensional world insurance so that the people that get transfered out could re-build it based on the problems of their current time, but, then again, there's no reason to just leave them there. But hey, the U.N. had some expendable cash on hand. It is also sort of a life insurance for the geniuses, who are encouraged to help sustain fellow geniuses and their society in their new dimension. So, living in a utopia with an average IQ of 162, they can live a safe life, and when humanity in the other dimension needs them, they're there to actually serve a purpose and be noticed. As opposed to not paying to enter the G.A.T.E. program and spending their life in a decaying society sitting infront of a television yelling at Jeopardy contestants for being inferior to them and winning money that is rightfully their own.

Problems

1) Well, first of all, the secret ugly program leaves the rest of us with an average world IQ of 89. So, G.A.T.E. is basically digging our graves for us. Which is nice, I mean, what with the price of funerals these days. 2) If the CEO of G.A.T.E., who is believed to be either "That Guy" or "That Asian Guy From The Lost Educational Videos", takes the money and shuts down the program, well, we have to dig our own graves, and screw a lot of nerds to get the average IQ back up. 3) If there's a problem transferring the geniuses back to our dimension, and they all die, we have to dig our own graves, and screw a lot of nerds to get the average IQ back up. 4) If there's a problem transferring the geniuses back to our own dimension, and we rip a wormhole open in time space, and Aliens start being spewn out, we'll all die, or surrender and then become degenerative monkey slaves to them. 5) If there's a problem transferring the geniuses to their own dimension, and we rip a wormhole open in time space, and Aliens start being spewn out, the geniuses will be taken prisoner and used as laboratory monkey slaves who will then have to give up the secrets of our inter-dimensional technology, which will result in aliens being spewn into our progressively worse dimension and all of us exploding or something, I don't know, I'm stupid.
