Jokes (sometimes known as gags) are some of the most abundant forms of entertainment in the world. Coming in many forms and ranging from simple "slapstick" comedy to the subtle sophistication of puns, jokes are utilized by many people for a single purpose. Facilitating the process of reproductive actions with a member of the opposite gender.[1]. This can be accomplished in a number of ways, many of which will be outlined in the following sections.

Knock-knock[edit | edit source]

Knock knock jokes are considered by many[2] to be the absolute epiphany of humorous accomplishment. The formula is this: the initiator says "Knock knock" to an unsuspecting participant[3]. The participant [4] then says "Who's there?", to which the initiator then follows up with a punchline. There have been many scientific investigations into the reason that these jokes are both as popular and hilarious as they are, but all to no avail. There have also been scientific incursions into the reason that 98% of people, when they hear "Knock knock", will always reply with "Who's there?". These investigations have had more success than those previously mentioned, and leading theories attribute the cause to either a mental feeling of obligation, peer pressure, or suppressed childhood memories.

Your Mother[edit | edit source]

Individual's mothers have been favorite subjects of jokes for ages countless. These jokes can take a variety of forms, ranging from shouting "your mom" at random moments during conversation to listing various events that happened to "yo momma" due to her extreme obesity[5]. Another popular form is telling a friend or acquaintance about the fantastic time the speaker with their mother the previous night, and the various ways the mother was impressed by the speaker. In recent times these jokes have been on the rise, and are now far more commonplace than any other mother-based jokes.

That's what she said[edit | edit source]

Another popular form of joke is saying "that's what she said" after any statement. Though it's preferable for the statement to be a viable double-entendre, it can be said after any statement, regardless of whether or not it even makes sense[6] This has become a surprisingly popular form of joke, becoming fully mainstream for months before fading away. Even now it is still uttered by a loyal group of "purists", who take pride in their ability to turn a normal conversation into a lewd volley of innuendos.
