Fear Factor was an American reality game show, in which contestants, usually confused Canadian or European tourists, participate in hair-raising and death-defying stunts, and are forced to eat vomit-inducing crap, all for a grand prize of 10$. The show was developed by a team of experienced Japanese game show makers, in collaboration with inexperienced Dutch pastry chefs. The show was first aired on September 11, 2001.

In the show, six tourists or groups of tourists face off against each other, and must avoid being eliminated by outperforming or killing the other tourists. Fear Factor was NBC's answer to ABC's hit show, Survivor, and was popular among the suicidal since it gave them ideas on how to kill themselves. Even though Fear Factor got criticism from animal rights and foreigner rights groups, it was one of the premier game shows in America. The show was ended because of low television ratings, since most of the suicidal viewers did successfully kill themselves, and those who weren't suicidal would die from the grossness of eating contests.

Format of the Show[edit | edit source]

The show has 3 men and 3 women, all of whom must be bachelors.

Events in Show[edit | edit source]

Because of the creativeness of the Japanese game show makers, Fear Factor has a fearsome number of terror inducing events. Events range from having to smuggle snakes on a plane to being force-fed all four of a bull's balls.
