Notes

This template annotates a neologism or foreign word where its meaning is important to the article. It can also be used to deliver a joke; but only set joke=true when the meaning offered is incorrect. Generally, don't use it to explain a self-evident pun.

Often, you will have to write the same word twice; this is because of the word used in the template should be in its base form, while the word used in the article body may have problematic suffixes.

If the code is too long, consider using <ref id="#"> and move the body of the citation elsewhere to maintain readability.

As an annotation template, normally it should be wrapped between <ref> tags. It can be placed in text for flow/stylistic reasons.
