Global Thermonuclear War is a war game created by Stephen Falken and released in 1983 for the WOPR. It simulated a large-scale nuclear exchange between the United States and the USSR. While it was criticized for its primitive vector graphics and lack of realism, it featured an AI that was undeniably well ahead of its time. It was also one of the first games that could be played online over a direct dial-up connection.
